My Years
Acting
In 1956 I was chosen for the lead character of Daisy Durdle, the cook, in "Lo and Behold."  The show ran for four weeks with multiple performances each week.
It was a great experience, but tiring to work all day and perform at night!
This was my Hollywood publicity photo.
This shot was taken during the performance where I'm "pondering my sins."  I was suppose to poison Milo Alcott (Don Moore), but instead I fell in love with Dr. Dorsey (James Kennedy), his doctor
The reason I have a look of horror on my face is because Dr. Dorsey is about to eat my poisoned apple meant for Milo.
In this picture I am telling Milo what a great housekeeper I am.  To my right is Jack McDougal (Alan Lowe) who is the bad guy that tried to convince Daisy to kill Milo.
Here I am with Dr. Robert Dorsey.  My character falls in love with him.
Here I am confessing my love to Dr. Dorsey.  Of course, we lived happily ever after!
My write-up from the show's program:
Joan Sherman (Daisy Durdle) - Just signed as a singer to a personal management contract with Walter Douglas.  Miss Sherman made a brief but impressive appearance in our first production "Mrs. McThing," has entertained on USO shows, camp and hospital shows as a singer and actress and plays classical piano.  Her appearances include two on the Al Jarvis TV Show {a star search type program that I won both times} and at Ben Pollack's nightclub in Hollywood for a month.  Acting background includes Val du Four Drama Workshop and classes with Al Berkman.
